MY SUNSHINE
The flowers still bloom in the spring...
The sun still shines...
and glows like never before.
It spreads across the rays, tranced. It heals the essence of every being.
But my soul still lies in dark.
I cry my heart out in the light.I crib, i ponder, i weep.
Dont want to believe in what i’m seeing.
And here i wait again, here i wish to see...
My flowers to bloom once again,
My sunshine to glisten on me....

Grave situation man I met might have been a ghost

On one of our regular night-outs, my friends and I decided to dine at Comesum, Nizamuddin. It was past midnight when we were over with food and back on the road with our bikes, trying to outdo each other. After a while of speedy excursion, I decided to have some adventure. So, I proposed something I had been thinking of doing for a long time.

I asked all my friends to accompany me for a stroll into the Pandara Road cemetery. They were shocked and, as expected, refused to go there. All of them even tried to deter me from doing so but the idea of coming across a ghost - which I believed don't exist - was too fascinating to give up.

Going ahead with my preposterous plan, as my friends called it, in 10 minutes I was on that road facing the graveyard wall. The mere sight of the silent graveyard was tempting to attract me inside. A strange anticipation swept through me and I jumped over the low wall to enter the land of the dead.

As soon as I stepped inside, an eerie feeling took over me. It was dark and damp, but it had not rained the entire day! Nothing was visible except for the rays coming from one of the street lights. There was silence all around and not a single human being was in sight. Soon, it got spooky and scary and I wanted to move out of the premises. But something stopped me!
Suddenly I realised that I was standing in the middle of the graveyard without even having moved a step. As I shifted a little, I slipped and fell into a grave-like pit. I felt I was unconscious for a while as when I woke up I could feel that a little time had elapsed. Feeling damp mud on my cheek, I tried to stand up.As soon as I was standing again inside the ditch, I saw a figure of a man above. Looking down at me in a strange way, he offered his hand to pull me up. I could feel a chill run down my spine on holding on to his hand. It was colder than a normal person's hand would be in that weather.
After pulling me up, he asked me the reason for being in the graveyard at such a late hour. With a little hesitation, I lied saying I had come there in the evening to offer flowers at one of the graves but fell into the ditch, so was unable to leave. I then thanked him for pulling me out.
Taking the conversation a little further I got to know that he was a science graduate for the Banaras Hindu University. Then, I don't know why but the man asked me to check on my bike. Instantly, I was in front of the wall which I had climbed to come in. I could see the man waving at me and then disappearing into the darkness. When I was alone again, I realised that there was not a single peck of mud on either my cheek or clothes. I went to the graveyard next morning again to check out on that person. To my utter surprise, the keeper told me that no one was allowed inside after 11pm and the keeper was certainly not the one I met that night.
Was it the soul of one of the people resting in the graves there? The question haunts me.

Is There Any?

IS THERE ANY?
by KUNIK BHARTI
Inqlab Zindabad”, “Tum Muje Khoon do, Main tumhen Azadi dunga”, “Satya aur Ahinsa hi sarv dharm”. These were some of the slogans given by the immerging leaders of that era which changed India in all aspects and helped her gain victory and independence over the foreign rule. These leaders gave India the prime importance in their lives above everything and treated India as Matra-Bhumi (mother land). Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Jawaharlal Nehru and many others were the rebellions, who fought against anything wrong and made there image in the hearts of billions as the True Immortal Leaders.
As we enter the era of new generation and abundance of opportunities, India has made a significant mark on the globe but still we, as a nation are considered as the third world nation. After all the achievements and triumph India has able to gathered, why is it so that we are still considered as the third world nation? The answer lies within the nation’s spirit.
Corruption, Poverty, Communalism, Caste bias, Gender Inequality, Religion.....and the list goes on and on. Why even after 63 years of independence we are not able to get independence over the true evils of our nation. Why isn’t any political party able to curb any one problem of the various iniquities? What are the political parties doing over the years? Is there any party that can fulfill the literal promise that they make to the people of India? Is there a leader still left in India who gives our nation the prime importance above anything else?

Friends Forever
Sometimes we tend to rely on those, we never expect would event stay close for once. But, probably that is what life is all about. All the twists and turns, all the fun and frolic all the happy and sad, everything in one string, LIFE.We are often mistaken by how simple it all seems yet how difficult it all is. What matters at the end of all these questions is a simple, 'I am here for you'. This is to all my friends who have always been there and supported me no matter what.Thank you all

I am someone
I walked past a dead face
even though the person was alive
I saw my eyes in the mirror
and cried at the sight
I looked at a person I didn't know
and I met a friend
I got heads to turn
when I walked past
I learned a lot about myself
when I lost a new friend
I cried every tear in my body
when I thought about love
I got hit bad
then got back in the ring
I climbed a mountain of rocks
and saw an eagle fly over- head
I heard terrible things about myself
when no one thought I was listening
I realized I was strong
when I didn't cry when it hurt
I found out who I was
when I was with someone else
I thought I was lost forever
when a friend found me
I held a life in my hand
and it was my own
I was a pawn in someone else's game
so I surrendered to a brook
I walked the fine line between surviving
and not wanting to survive
I still am
I am someone

Fresh Wine

Watching a bunch of 60 new faces, some feeling lost, some having a confident walk, and some, which you cant, decipher. All at the same time analyzing and trying to get familiar with their new surrounding and their already existing inhabitants. The whole view is worth waiting for a year for sure!
The faculty does their bit on ice-breaking sessions, which obviously are distinct from the ones conducted by the seniors, but in the end it all comes down to an interesting first meet, and amity formed for life. One thing, which I can swear by, is that every moment of the next 3 years is going to have a part to play in “You” becoming a totally different person. And I have a feeling while having a recap thought on the last day of college; you’ll surely remember my words and me.
Moments of exhilaration, moments of disappointment and much more in the vocabulary of emotions, going through all of them will make you experience the meaning of the phrase “Journey Matters More than the Destination”. As your senior, on the behalf of faculty and my friend and acquaintances, I welcome all the freshers to MBICEM- your journey.

A NEW YOU

Touch the sky,
Take a flight so high,
Look out for new,
Don’t resist to deny!

Happiness isn’t connected,
It’s free,
It’s in the leaves of the tree,
Fragrance of the flowers,
Touch of the tides,
In the sparkle of the moonlight,
Sing a new tune,
Forget that never was yours,
Forget as it hurts to remember,
Forget as I know it kills you within,
Whatever has been, has been,
Give yourself a new canvas,
Paint a new you,
Whoever agrees take them along,
Try and sing a new song,
It won’t be tough,
It would just be new,
Rush out of that door and
Touch that sparkling fresh dew,
Take its essence, know its meaning,
Mend that broken wing,
Get ready for another flight,
Love your own light,
Shine within!
Remember your new lesson,
Just follow the flow,
There will be no halts,
Be sure…your spirit
Have no faults!

THE CREATIVE REBELS
" A film maker is not what a society requires. It is the more of doctors and architects we require today. The contribution of Film Makers and Media Personalites is none compared to the people in other fields who contribute in real terms to the society."-one of my admired teachers.
The name is of one of the teachers in my college, not mentioned because I respect him, deeply.
One guy whom I admired for his professional instinct and his substance in work, made me fall levels down with those words! "WHAT?! WHY!? IS HE MAD?! "were just the beginning of my reactions.Well, if thats the case, why do we have media then? We, the media, are always seen at looking into people's lives and making a hullabaloo over every other thing thats on the planet. Well, dude! had that been the case, the world would not have ever come to stand to calling it a developed society. A Communication death would have eventually resulted into wars and misinterpretation of the messages that people brag about! So fools Wake up!And ya, why only these dirt - smirken engineers and doctors are paid more than us media people?Bull - shit! For the silly excuse that they had mugged up books in the growing ages and mugged up even the sums which had to come in the exam. Does that make them great enough? And ya, what new contributions do you people make? Spend Half your life getting drained down into books , mugging up all the formulas and theories that had been given by other famous men. They are excused! thorougly as they found something NEW! something more UNCONVENTIONAL! SPENT THEIR ENTIRE LIFE INTO DISCOVERING SOMETHING NEW! CREATIVE! HATS OFF! but U! What have you done yaar? Every mechanic on this earth can do it yaar! common! its just a minute difference in knowledge! We have all been through their exhibitions! Frankly! Their CREATIVE BRAINS are dead! SIN COS THETA AND BETA are not the end of life people! Get over with your mentality! On the other hand, we, the media contribute so much to the society.Ok, all you people may not agree with me coz this requires a fresh perspective to think from!A good film is worth a thousand thoughts! It turns your head into the direction what it intends to, isnt it a persuader?! Think it!We, the Ad Industry, make what you want to be!We make brands and drag you, insist you on buying stuff which you would have never bought even if your mom told you not to!Look at the journalists' end, Besides the informations, we make you sit through hours of discussion that you people do in your free time--the old ones, especially! We make you talk on stuff which you would never talk about!MY ONLY REQUEST TO THE FOOLS WHO STILL DON'T DARE TO AGREE, PLEASE LOOK BEYOND AND TAKE PRIDE IN WHO YOU ARE!ATLEAST OF YOUR WORK!

Why Security Council Is a Distant Dream

Article Review by: anshuman sharma
Author : Sashi Tharoor Published: May 12, 2008
Sashi Tharoor in his most recent contribution to India's thought process writes about the hassles in front of the nation's aspiration to acquire a permanent seat at the Security Council. When you read the article, at age 20, there certainly is a level of frustration that follows.
Ads by GoogleThere are grave issues in the country that need immediate action. India shining and economic boom are words most frequent in contemporary newspapers and columns. Tatas buy Corus and Citibank is headed by an Indian are just a few mentions. The common man is striving for survival, and half of the population is still to understand the concept of bread. This sounds Leftist and Anti-Establishment, doesn’t it? This is not the issue. It can’t be, since I as a student in the capital have my own worries. The cost of milk is Rs. 24 for a litre, that of a kilogram of pulses is Rs. 60, a 200ml shampoo comes for Rs. 130 and toothpaste for Rs. 45. normally a student has anywhere from Rs 1000 to Rs 3000 for his pocket. So apparently it becomes a little difficult. More significantly, the social structure is a little too self obsessed. Every female is on the mercy of the straying male. She is perennially gazed with a subliminal thought; ‘what is she doing out of her house’? There exists no age group from zero to eighty which has not been raped at least once.Well, given the fact that we are the biggest democracy and the fifth largest economy, this state may act as a deterrent. There is nothing else really that we lag behind at. Corruption exists everywhere. So what if we are a little more corrupt in mentality and Indians are dishonest is a joke? Poverty is not an issue here since economic boom is taking caring of that.Infrastructure doesn’t count since we will soon host a Formula One race built on farmlands and I will support Raikkonen. I know for sure that a few farmers will commit suicide in excitement. Formula One is all about excitement. There are only two categories of citizens, poor and snobbish. How does it matter as long as we are in international news?Urban citizens have all of a sudden become wine connoisseurs. Because they can afford it. They all work in big companies and so do their peers. 50% of the seats in educational institutions are reserved. But we can always emigrate, or if we can’t afford to, there always are coaching classes. Only 1200 students per batch. Education for all. The greatest thing is that you don’t need a house to sleep in. a flyover will always provide you the space underneath. You only have to watch out the racing Mercedes that may occasionally go over you. The license will always be found fake or paid-for, be the chauffer or the owner. So I think there are no possibilities that can keep us away from acquiring a permanent seat in the SC but the neighbouring states of Pakistan, China or Indonesia. As Mr. Tharoor points out.

Confessions of a Sinner!!!

Well, when I was a child my mother once told me to be honest with elders...So as we all know that this is Patra Sir's blog I want to be completely honest with him...actually these are confessions of a sinner...
Sir, I posted this blog entry just a few minutes of our practical exam, when I realised that my ass could be on fire. This was done in noble intentions when I realised that I could show you some work done...I dont want to justify my actions its just that I have seen and learnt this all through my life...
Our government wakes up on terrorism when half the country has been rocked by bomb blasts.
Our PM talks about the internal elements, when half the country's youth has become involved with terror outfits, dirty politics and authoritative religious organisations.
The Sports Authority of India wakes up when Indian Hockey Team doesn't qualify for the World Cup for the first time.
The President of the Country wakes up when suddenly some indivisual sportsmen got her some medals for the first time.

So you see, its not exactly my fault...
I have always studied one day before the exam.
I always wake up when I see my dad entering the room to kick our asses.
I always reach college when the first class has already started.

And I always give good assignments when I know that the External is waiting for me in the other room, ready to rip my creative into pieces.

but I want to change all this now. I want to change myself now.

SIR I PROMISE YOU THAT I WILL SUBMIT MY ASSIGNMENTS NEXT YEAR ON TIME.

Thank you.

sahils post!

Aiee..
This being the first of MY entry is obviously very special! not just for me but also for all those who are going to read and most importantly learn!
The insight which will be provided through my posts are going to be ground breaking and break all barriers in the field of the written word!
I look forward to keep posting (something worth reading next time!) and I hope I manage to find some readers.
You know you love me...

Boy’s toys!

by: Sonal Tiwari

Perhaps the only thing men crave about having the smallest… don’t be scared guys, I’m only talking about gadgets! Every thing else is just right!
With the new trend of being a tech-freak, it’s no surprise that today we see people spend huge amounts of cash on gadgets that have thousands of features of which we merely use just a few.
Take the case of the latest cell phones; they might have features like an inbuilt GPS system or a software that enables you to watch TV, yet we only see the owner using it for the three main functions: SMS, music and camera… calls also once in a blue moon.
But all said and done, these toys are more of a status symbol than just mere utilities, a wristwatch with an inbuilt music player is bound to catch a few eyes… isn’t that what every guy wants after all?
But these toys are not a new trend, as a matter of fact, the tradition of sporting expensive gadgets has been running for quite some time… leave aside quality, the trend has been there for long and a best living example for this is none other than famous Rolex. The brand itself speaks out the personality of the beholder!
With watches ranging from a price tag of 2.5 lakh onwards, this company has made a long way in the timepiece industry. But don’t think that this is the only thing that’s got a name, you’re wrong, because when it comes to giving a stiff competition, other brands too are not behind, with players such as Jaeger-Le Coultre, Rado, Omega and Tissot; there’s sure gotta be a clash amongst the titans (no brand intended!).
But these are only timepieces that merely tell the time, other than being jewels, what really brings out the masculinity in a guy I none other than the best place for enjoying the game, his latest home theatre system. And selling like hot cakes, the latest one is brought by none other than giant Samsung, the Mosel. Imagine guys… no more buying tickets for your favorite match, this gem of a TV allows you to enjoy your sports right in your living room. Not just that, with an inbuilt card reader this theatre system allows you to connect via USB onto your PC, you’re gonna love it… just be careful of your neglected partner!
Jumping in the bandwagon of High Definition is another name ‘Sharp’, with the latest LC-46G7M, this TV not only has the latest features, it also focuses on one major aspect of all gadgets, ‘their looks’. When switched off, this LCD looks like a million bucks!
Some girls, on the other hand, like to believe that every man has a child within him (to the extent that it’s the only thing they have within.), admit it guys… we still think about playing… in a slightly different way no doubt! But we do want our share of fun too, and what is child fun without games? It is for that purpose that three major companies are facing a cut throat competition amongst themselves in the gaming industry, Windows X-Box, Sony Playstation and Nintendo.
With the launch of the latest gaming console the X-Box 360, it was high time that long time foe Sony had to launch his Playstation 3, and what a bombastic response it was, launching the ultimate console, with a blue ray disk reader, the competition has been crushed, no wonder that it has been called a ‘Half Supercomputer’.
But what about the more mature ones? Well, for all you music aficionados who like to stay on the move, there’s good news… no more compromising bad sound for phone connectivity, Apple has finally released its ‘i-phone’, with the sound quality of an i-pod, this multimedia phone comes with an inbuilt digital camera, so go ahead and flaunt your way to fame, this baby is sure to get the attention of some other babies (if you know what I mean!).
Gadgets have influenced our way of life tremendously, the lifestyle of today’s modern people purely depends on such high tech toys, be it the new phone on the block or the latest gaming console, Indians have now accepted this trend of being tech-freaks… and it suits them too, after all, we are the largest market for gadgets in the world!

Bollygood?

By: Vikram Dhindaw

The sails go down, bearded men swinging from ropes attached to the ship, the sea is in a vortex, pirates are sinking as cannons fire to destroy the enemy, it is then that Shah Rukh Khan jumps from wooden poles, takes out his sword as Rani Mukherjee tries to save what remains of the crew… Don’t know why this sounds so familiar, yet I see something different?
Do we really see this happening? But then we still ask ourselves; why can’t Bollywood movies be as good as Hollywood movies? Well the answer is simple, its because Govinda has to dance in yellow shorts, Salman has to beat the crap out of baddies with loud laughs, Akshay has to jump three stories and land on his feet, while Rajnikanth has to be one step below God! It’s the fuel that keeps our industry growing and asking for more, what would Bollywood be if there were no masala in songs? We already have Hollywood for that! So why are we aiming to change something unique to our own? We should be proud… but that’s certainly not the case with generation-next, they feel that this industry might need a few changes, so we caught up with a few people outside cinema halls all over Delhi, and they have had quite a few nasty things to say about our industry.
While some feel that our stories lack originality to the extent that we even copy songs (this is of no reference to Anu Mallik whatsoever), some say that the budget is too low, while others just feel that our actors aren’t sexy enough! (I guess they haven’t heard of Mallika Sherawat as yet!).
Long songs, too much ‘rona dhona’, impossible stunts, editing problems and lack of boldness; the replies were a mixed bag of opinions, although there were a few people who thought that there is scope for improvement.
On the other hand some actually think that we are not competing with any Hollywood movie, ‘we have a solid industry of fine actors, we have our own viewers and they are going to see Shah Rukh Khan on the screen rather than some Antonio Banderas.’ says Gaurav Sharma a student of Delhi University.
Although we do admit that there is scope for improvement; taking the case of action films for instance, the action might be there, but an element of reality is missing sometimes. Dodging bullets might have already been seen in a Hollywood film, but our Indian directors are forgetting that those flicks were sci-fi and that the same sequence might look very weird if done in a romantic movie.
‘Akshay Kumar can never be Jackie Chan’ says Tripti Kumar, according to her; Bollywood needs to go a long way before it could match the standards of a Hollywood movie, she thinks that Indian films have a lot of ‘overacting’, but its not because our actors are bad, but sometimes the audience demands it that way, be it the ‘K…K…Kiran’ or the ‘Rishte me toh hum…’ fans love it! And it is for that reason that a large population prefers Hollywood, because a larger part worships actors and films like Gods.
Another valid point has been contributed by Sanjeev Verma, an employee at a local cyber café, according to him there is a major role being contributed by the Censor Board, this is because it fails to understand that if the country has to be more open minded about the whole issue of sex, stopping it is not the solution.
Rather a check must be kept against ‘obscenity’ (looking at its true dictionary meaning and not mix it with concepts such as Sanskaar), despite keeping in mind the whole society and not harming it in any way.
But there too we see a loophole… on one side they can worship a 62 year old who recently locked lips with a seventeen year old (no offence, we love you Big B!) and on the other hand we burn the effigy of a celebrity who got kissed on the cheek while performing a dance move.
‘Its not the industry, but the people who make it work that way’ says Ankit, a student outside PVR Spice Cinema.
Well, be it the length of the movie or too much Jhatak Matak by our heroines, our industry is still the biggest profit making movie industry in the world, and the fact that big Hollywood stars like Will Smith, Richard Gere and Brad Pitt to name a few, want to come to work here, speaks loud enough!
Who knows we might just catch George Clooney and Cameron Diaz dancing on the tunes of Himesh in a short while. Lets just wait and see!
People who go to college are incredible. We go to classes. We read and absorb and are comprehensively tested on heavy amounts of various materials. We sleep very little. We party too much. Someone is always sick. Someone is always complaining. We become attached to close friends. We smother each other. We lean too much. We think often of the past and want to go back. We know we cannot.

We all have separate lives, families, backgrounds and pasts. We live totally different from how we used to live. We are frustrated and sometimes want to give up, but we never stop trying. We disregard health. We eat awful foods. We are forced to think about the future. We are scared and confused. We reach out for things, yet we don't find them. We try to sort out our minds, which are filled with studies, worries, problems, memories, emotions -- powerful feelings. We wander the halls looking for happiness. We hurt--a lot.

We keep going, though, because above all else, we never stop learning, growing, changing, and most important dreaming. Dreams keep us going and they always will. All we can do is be thankful that we have something to hold onto, like dreams and each other.

my last goodbye !!

Since the past six months, i have had nothing but First Frame on my mind. If you ask me I have literally slept, ate and drank the festival. Learnt by heart, I am now capable enough to write a thesis on the subject.

Unfortunately all the fun (read, working) has now come to an end. With each passing day , I miss it even more. It was like an addiction. However, its time to bid goodbye to one of the most savoring phases of my life ( I am still alive and want to live for atleast a half century more).

So if I had to write about something, how could it possibly be about anything else but FIRST FRAME.

Just because you're grown up, doesn't mean you don't need someone to confide in. In fact, logic dictates that the opposite is true. Life becomes more complex and difficult as we get older. The people that we confide in as adults are very valuable

Guess what is it...!!!

It is an oddly shaped machine, only few meters long, rather spongy on the surface and warm to the touch. Within its soft shell uncounted thousands of parts, many as brittle as glass or fragile as moth wings fitted together in the most intricate pattern. Sturdy little pulleys and ropes of unique design move this way and that way. Pumps inside precise amount of liquids and chemicals trough its tunnel of pipes and chambers. Electrical networks branching like trees carry continuous messages from a computer like command post to the rest of the apparatus.

And when all of the balanced parts are performing as they should, the owner of the machine rarely gives a thought to the strange complexity upon which he so depends.

So all you out there keep guessing what wondrous machine is it...?

What Do I Know ?

I don’t know what to say
sitting here, watching the waves,
emotions come flooding in,
no words, no thoughts

everything seems empty,
everything seems so out of tune,
one moment I was flying high,
next thing I knew, something yanked me down!

standing where I am now,
looking back how far I have come,
I thought I had learnt all
that life has to teach!

when one door closed,
another one opened,
letting me continue the journey
that I no longer wanted to be part of!

never did I imagine
it would come to this,
never did I think, one day,
I would be sitting here
and trying to figure out,
What do I really know?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Just when you think you know it all, life changes in a second.

p.s. i love you

before you stamp me a plagiarist, i would like to clarify that this blog is not about the lovely novel by cecilia ahern but its a guide that should be able to help my brave pals who dared to fall in love but are coward enough to keep it to themselves. so here i am, ready to help. see its not about how you say it to her but what you say to her. 90% of the guys have a phobia of the saying i love you. is english a problem? i would have recommended proposing in hindi but unfortunately talking to babes in hindi has become a taboo. "cheap you know!".
let's try some other language....
1. how about german
ich liebe dich (eesh libay deesh)
2. spanish is good
te quiero (tay ki-yerro)
3. italian is simple
ti amo (tee aamo)
4. french very polite
je vous aime (ye voo zain)
5. you could also try tamil
naan vodnak kadl pandray
6. or malyalam
nyan ninnay sneh kinnoo
7. telugu is not bad
naynoo nikku prem istanoo

friends this is all i can share as of now but i am dead sure this is enough. compliment these absurd looking phrases with some emotion of your own. some nice sounding bakwaas will work. here your talent comes into play. move round and round the mainh point, these absurd phrases.
and if your love is true and she is inteligent enough, then in all probability she will understand what you wish to say.
"p.s. i love you"

It was titled Tequila and salt.
And Your Highness renamed it as "Bull and Sh**"

Tequila and Salt
This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror where one could read it everyday.
(I am not ready to remove the posters of Orlando Bloom and Paste THIS! hmph!)
You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for. (Wrong, there are 6)
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.(Wrong, they are un-countable!)
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.(Bull SHIT..! Ha!)
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you. (No wonder I smile 24*7 !)
5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep. (Umm..It meant EVERYONE..that was a typo!)
6. You mean the world to SOMEONE.(Err..again..EVERYONE :P )
7. You are special and unique. ( Temme something NEW! )
8. SOMEONE that you don't even know exists loves you. ( *sniff* I wanna meet him! )
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it. (Mistakes..?? me?? huh?? )
10. When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look. ( and say.. "Shooooo!")
11. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks. (Bad remarks..am sure there arent any!)

Ha! I love myself! :)\

Life n its various facets

Hellooo everybody,
I first thought of pasting some stuff from any random website and finishing off with my assignment, trust me this is the easiest way to do this assignment! But then I thought, hello am I a journalism student or what? If I cant write a few lines on a blog then what am I doing here? So I thought I would get going with some philosophy, and lecture all the people who care to read this post. But then I scrapped the idea, I mean how boring and predictable can that get? SO just thought of putting some random thoughts across to all of you.

Life in MBICEM completely rocks with its share full of everlasting friendships, friendships that dont last really long and of friendships that turn into enmity. But the high point of our life is, that we all unite in times of need, when we roam around, when we all dont feel like attending the classes and also when we need to bitch about certain people(we all love doing that, guys accept it!). But then we are also kids at heart who refuse to grow up. Its our third year of graduation and we shall be stepping into the media really soon, if we havent already entered it. And we still havent left our good old antakshri and corner to corner games, we still love them n laugh our hearts out when we enjoy a particular game. So here I am getting all philosophical, guys n gals dont let that innocence vanish from your hearts, because in the end we want our world to be a good place to live in and want happiness all around.
OK I think I have just lectured a lot n I must stop here.
There's a really cool advice for all those who have been thinking about what to write in the blog for the past 15 minutes. Start writing about your school or college life and I am sure you wont be able to stop!

Happy Blogging,
Sofia

Bas! Re Think...

vvvvvvvvvvvvvips dreamed of such a system in India too. Engineers did little in understanding this thing. Workers devoted their day and night in implementation, some are still serving there (trig security). Commuters got a chance to commute on the pilot project and they raised the issues then and still are. but BRT is still there. some say that there is no harm with the project but ask those who waste their valuable time between thousands red lights and long traffic jams. you can't justify this. after a deep observation i found that there are severe problems with both (commuters and commandants)! i saw that motorcyclists are using the cycle lane and they are the most problamatic. other then that almost every vip car uses the bus lane. this is injustice to all those who follow the rules. so please stop breaking rules. if we start using BRT in a responsible manner then we will be in a better position than today.

Thank you and Please think

Going the Nuclear way

Just a thought of a 'Joint Family' and your brain takes no time in painting the picture of a benevolent mother and a father, a brother and a sister-in-law showering all the goodies over you, and grandparents who would live longer than you had expected (unsurprisingly, these long years might even extend to hundreds and hundreds of years). You could actually visualize that 'PERFECT FAMILY' within a span of five minutes.

But wait. Your thought process won't end here. This happy looking family is incomplete without a villain. Going by our saas-bahu sagas, no story can end without the family members facing the dramatic twists and turns in their life. Hence, the presence of a vamp wearing neatly plaited sarees with backless blouses, a long, bright bindi and a 'teekhi, tez talwar zuban' is mandatory.

Once we open our eyes, we ponder - "Is this the reality? Does anything called a 'PERFECT FAMILY' exist on this earth?"

Our illusion gets shattered on reading the newspaper. News about dowry deaths, property disputes, domestic violence, sexual and mental abuse seem to have bombarded the pages of newspapers. The rosy picture that we had imagined appears meaningless.

The fact is that joint family is definitely not all joy and laughter. It would be very unrealistic to expect it to be so. Tensions and conflicts among the members, each member playing games and trying to score over others, disputes over property and money matters have proved that being a part of a nuclear family is undoubtedly, a BETTER CHOICE.

A List

1. It is always fun to over-work.

2. This can cause permanent damages to your social life, though. :/

3. It is always nice to offer your seat to an older person in the Metro. Though, people who refuse to stand in a line are real pieces of shit.

4. Music is important while travelling. Even if only one of your ear phone, actually works.

5. My right ear can listen more than my left one.

6. You sleep the best when you are tired enough to sleep without eating , taking off your shoes or even switching on the AC.

7. Desktops are way more fascinating than Laptops.

8. Shopping is the best, the costliest and the shallowest way to boost your self image.

9. Just because you don't see your friends doesn't mean they all are dead.

10. Writing is not the best way to express yourself. Whoever said otherwise, was a looser. :|

The Economic Meltdown: ‘The flamboyancy of 360-degree initiatives will be diluted’

By Shruti Tripathi

The Indian advertising industry is not immune to the global economic slowdown that is impacting businesses worldwide. With companies resorting to handing out pink slips and cutting down on expenditures by 20 per cent, the ad industry is beginning to face the brunt of this slowdown. Diwali didn’t bring much cheer and the outlook remains glum.

Speaking to a cross-section of industry people to gauge their reactions to the current economic crisis, I inferred that Most are in favour of pre-emptive measures to deal with the volatile market conditions. While some consider BTL activities as an escape route, others plan to play it by the ear.

Upsurge of BTL activities

Anita Nayyar, CEO, Havas Media, said, “Since ad agencies are regarded as an expenditure for a company, they will be the first to be affected by the economic downturn as companies will cut costs. The volatile market conditions will make the companies pick and choose the media to be used for advertising. The flamboyancy of 360-degree initiatives will be diluted.”

According to Shripad Kulkarni, COO, Allied Media, “With the economic downturn, the obvious choice is to resort to all activities that bring the customer closer to the product. Therefore, the apt alternative is to take refuge in BTL activities. Also, new media like the Internet will continue to grow despite the economic conditions. While the financial sector, consumer durables and realty are feeling the pinch, the FMCG sector is unperturbed. There will be reason to worry if the global economic scenario doesn’t improve in months to come.”

“However, we don’t intend to revise our plans. We completed our first year of operations in April 2008 with billings of over Rs 400 crore. We have recently made fresh recruitments. Therefore, owing to our strong fundamentals, we will continue to grow from strength to strength regardless of the market vulnerability,” Kulkarni asserted.

Rohit Ohri, Managing Partner, JWT Delhi, said, “We haven’t really felt the implications of the economic downturn, but it will definitely affect the revenues of ad agencies. They will gear up for sales promotions, on-ground activities and other sales-driven initiatives. These BTL activities will not feel the pinch and hence, they would be the saviour in the economic slump.”

Pre-emptive measures

Anamika Mehta, COO, Lodestar Universal, observed, “The present economic conditions haven’t kicked off as dramatically in India as in other countries. But, how it eventually spans in months to come is uncertain. Acknowledging this fact, the ad agencies have become cautious and are playing it by the ear. Considering that India’s GDP was estimated at 7-7.5, the ad spends will not be spiked by exorbitant amounts.”

She added, “In terms of ad spends, the automobile, real estate and hi-end consumer durables sectors might see a dip, but the FMCG segment and lifestyle sector, by and large, would not be the worst-hit.”

Mona Jain, India Head - Strategic Investments, India Media Exchange, said, “Clients are definitely cutting costs, but there are no direct insinuations on the ad agencies. The advertisers are looking at the New Year as an opportune time to sell of their stocks. The low ebb of the marketing season will concentrate the ad spend to necessities like FMCG products, whereas high-end consumer durables will witness a tough time.”

Kunal Gill, Creative Director, Bates 141, remarked, “The economic downturn has beckoned belt-tightening in terms of ad spends. The ad agencies are definitely resorting to pre-emptive measures to prevent losses. The festive season hasn’t brought much festivity with it. The increments and bonuses weren’t phenomenal either. It has been a tough year and hopefully the global scenario should improve.”

With the industry in the ‘think-before-you-leap’ mode and cutting costs wherever possible, there is not much improvement in site in the current situation. Watch this space for further developments

WORDS

When I see within,
I see words wandering.
They help me speak myself,
Whether in summer, winter or spring.

A support system, they seem to be,
Even when you’re in the midst of worst.
From all the bounds, they make you free,
As they pull it all out, right from the thrust.

As randomly those words come,
I smile with them, I wipe my tears.
They make me feel, they make me speak,
They help me fight away all fears.

I thank them for being with me,
For making me what I am.
For describing me, for rejuvenating me,
And for expressing me time and again.

Apple a day...Glances a day...

Apple a day...Glances a day...

Hm...yup..the line is quite ajeeb..but this pharse, explains a stupid incident, yet a bit funny. My mom, very particular about me, her princess, I should eat properly..have a great diet, nothing should be missing in that..etc etc..so when I was about to leave for my office-mera pyara aajtak..oops dilli aajtak..she popped up a Chinese apple in front of me, saying “ye jarur kha lena..aaj kuch khas diya bhi nahi hai maine lunch mein”, I made a face, since eating at the desk is not allowed and I cannot sit at canteen for a long time..as I take hell lot of time in eating an apple you see! But I respect her care..so kept it in my bag! Whole day passed, I didn’t even touch that apple! In the evening, while going back home, I was feeling guilty that I did not eat it L so I decided to eat in metro..ya I travel by delhi metro..delhi ki jeevan rekha! I know very well..eating n drinking is not allowed on the delhi metro..but which guilt is big..? Metro mein eating eating ya not eating the apple given by lovely cary mom..obviously not eating the apple..! But this got me in great trouble. By chance today, or actually unfortunately, today everybody in the metro was mum, as if they were waiting for khach khach of my apple..huh to them. But I had to eat my apple so I looked here and there, took out my apple and ignoring the pasted sticker that says-“eating & drinking not allowed”, I took my first small bite..Kkhhaaacchhh…moment after this kkhhaaacchhh everybody’s eyes rolled to me from all their evening dreams. I ignored again...Keeping the guilt aside and took another bite..some people just kept their eyes stuck on me and my apple! This was irritating me too. So, I decided to finish my apple within the route of rajiv chowk to kashmere gate. I made my bites bigger and faster, first time in my life, just imagine, but I succeeded. Before it was declared next station is kashmere gate, I kept the remains of apple in polythene in my bag, very hurriedly! The station came and I relieved myself from the burden of not following the rules as now I’ll be separated from the rush that was staring at my every bite.
